Shapr, Mobile-First Professional Social Discovery Platform, Launches Today

Meg Rahner January 20, 2015

Shapr, a mobile-first professional platform that helps you grow authentic business relationships, has officially launched today and has also raised a seed round of $3 million. It has apps for both iOS and Android devices that allow users to choose their professional contacts who they really know and endorse, and then share those contacts with others in their network.

Shapr was inspired by my own experience of business networking as an entrepreneur. I’ve learned that the most life-changing encounters happen through mutually trusted contacts. I’m hoping Shapr can accelerate that kind of serendipity for everyone!” said Ludovic Huraux, Shapr co-founder and CEO.

How it Works

To get started, users self-select up to 50 people to be a part of their Inner Circle, the people close to them, whom they really know and endorse. Shapr then offers up to 5 daily introductions to new people to meet from one’s extended network.

In addition to the Meet People functionality, users can post to a shared forum called the Shapeline, which allows them to communicate with their extended circle of trusted contacts, and to discover opportunities and updates from people one-step-away.

Shapr is an exciting investment opportunity and an example of a company delivering on the reality that sharing strong, authentic and trusted business connections builds our future,” said Frédéric Mazzella, one of the private investors. “For millennia we have built our societies and our businesses on relationships between people that share bonds of trust. Shapr enlarges the reach of individual trust and scales our opportunities globally.”
