According to a study conducted by the Local Search Association, seniors are becoming just as savvy as younger generations when it comes to utilizing smartphones as a ‘shopping assistant’ in-store, whether it be to search for coupons, research competitor prices, or share location for discounts. Both older and younger smartphone users rank comparing prices as the #1 reason they search their mobile devices in-store, followed by coupons and offers. The key takeaway is that mobile plays a major role in the shopping experience for all generations, and local businesses have a major opportunity to incentive potential and existing shoppers through discounts and mobile offers.
