App Store Revenue over $10 Billion in 2013

Misspran January 7, 2014

Not surprisingly, things are going really well for Apple. The company announced that people have spent over $10 billion in the App Store in 2013. That’s a lot of money for Apple and app developers. Over $1 billion alone was spent in December spread out over the download of 3 billion apps. It was a very successful month for apple. Total payout to Apple developers now reaches over $15 billion.

“We’d like to thank our customers for making 2013 the best year ever for the App Store,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services. “We look forward to seeing what developers create in 2014.”

Some of the App store’s biggest hits are gaming focused, the most popular titles include Candy Crush Saga, Puzzles & Dragons, Minecraft, and Clumsy Ninja. According to BusinessWire, “The App Store currently offers more than one million apps to iPhone®, iPad® and iPod touch® users in 155 countries around the world, with more than 500,000 native iPad apps available.” This confirms that though Android is gaining market share, Apple is still doing great. A large part of that is due to its App Store and the high quality apps with high monetization.
