So, it was pretty slow week as far as mobile or tech news goes. No big announcements, no big conferences, nothing really to write home about…

…YEAH RIGHT!

Of course the biggest and most celebrated event this week was Apple’s Live Announcement of the new iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 8, Apple Pay, and Apple Watch. For those of us not lucky enough to be in Cupertino, CA to see the event in person, we were able to almost feel like we were there by watching the live stream online.

Despite a few malfunctions with the live stream (it’s to be expected when people all over the world are watching at the same time), Apple enthusiasts from every part of the globe were able to witness history in the making. As if introducing some of the most anticipated technological innovations of the year wasn’t enough, there was also a live performance by U2. And just in case a live performance from rock legends didn’t impress you, U2 then gave away their brand new album for free to every single person who has iTunes. That’s just over 500 million people, by the way. For those who missed the original keynote, or for those of you who wish to relive it again, you can watch it here.

The other notable event of this week was none other than the biggest tech conference of the year, TechCrunch Disrupt. Starting on Saturday, September 6th, with the Disrupt Hackathon, and continuing into a 3-day conference, TechCrunch Disrupt is where the best and brightest of the tech industry gathered together to create trends, inspire each other, and network among like-minded people. MobileFOMO was lucky enough to attend both the Hackathon and TC Disrupt, but since space was limited in the venue, there was also a live stream available for those who could not get tickets, making the whole experience accessible to everyone from around the world. Discussion topics varied from a conversation with renowned entrepreneur and Dallas Maverick’s owner, Mark Cuban, to a panel dedicated to digital medicine. You can watch all of the coverage from the conference here.
