Box just release an updated iOS app for the iPhone and iPad. Now for a special promotion within the next month, users who download the app will get 50 GB of free cloud storage. The offer is 5 times greater than the Box’s usual offer of 10 gigs of free storage.
Disclaimer: We don’t work for or with Box in any capacity whatsoever!
On the iTunes App Store, Box listed the changes and updates that are on version 3.0. The updates include:
・Completely re-written app!
・New navigation and redesigned UI
・New preview experience for documents, photos and videos
・Faster document rendering and photo loading
・Real-time search (for files and within files)
・Better sharing and controls
・AirPrint, Bookmarks, and savings videos from Box to your library coming in future releases
The seven new updates all add to an improved experience for sharing on the iOS Box mobile app. However, the biggest highlight on the new 3.0 version of the Box app is its beautifully redesigned user interface. The user experience has also been significantly enhanced. Box is making it even easier than before to share documents, save data offline and collaborate with its new mobile app. The new release reduces the number of motions required to save and share files, while maintaining an easy to view (and uncluttered) user interface. File preview has also been improved and we found that the new app is faster.
The downside is that free users are limited to a file size of 250 MB per file, which can be troublesome for those uploading images and media files. File size caps greatly hinder your ability to utilize your free 50 gigs, so that’s a bit sneaky on their part. If we are able to have 50 gigs at our disposal, we should be able to use it however we please.
Overall our experience with the Box app is positive. This app is currently available for download in the App Store. Now is the time to take advantage of the free 50 gig promotion – that’s a lot of cat pics!
Box has been one of the top contenders in the cloud storage space and is one of the more familiar names. The app was likely designed with the on-the-go mobile business professional in mind. Overall, Box’s new app is the right step closer in making it the central space for file storage, management, and collaboration for mobile business.
